I am in the market for a new PA and came across a video that stated that if the charging system is upgraded to the '24 version the cooling manifold has to be replaced as well. Have they told you the same?
I have not heard that, I will ask Tusday
Do you have a link to the video?

They told me last time I replaced my battery that they checked the charging system and it was fine. Then a year later the battery was shot and all the old problems that were supposedly fixed came back.
I don’t believe a thing these dealerships say anymore.
They ought to do a recall but they won’t and since they won’t enough is enough for me. I’m not paying them to fix the same crap over and over again because they won’t own up to it.

Clearly us 1st model year owners can go pork ourselves thank you very much.

I got my bike back today!
2024 stator upgrade, includes the new sidecase so no grinding out to makeit fit.
New 2024 display, and all new BCM, ECM and PCM. They were all faulty.

One thing my Service Manager mentioned was that they might start doing the oil changes at 2500 miles instead of 5k miles

One more thing, the Adaptive headlight delete can be done with a computer setting by the service tech,
I know some guys dont mind the stupid light, but it annoys the hell out of me!

Good for you! I'm really struggling about year choice - I can get a real good deal on a '23 but the '24 charging setup is supposed to be better at idle/low RPM's. Obviously you had to get yours switched to the '24 version, but, in general, do you think taking a '23 with the previous version of charger is an acceptable risk?

I love the bike and really have not had any serious issues, lucky I guess but I have to post this for others on my issue. Bike is a late 2022 with currently just over 10k.On good days its my daily driver to work.
The issue I have is randomly it would shut down when cold, starting temp in the morning is usually in mid 60's. Im talking fireing it up, running about an minute, thats to put on the helmet, turn on the Cardi, and jump on, taking off, not aggressively driving either. The bike always turns over easy or a PanAm, it has the latest starter gear on it for torque. I would go about 100 yards and poop. The only way to start is was to completely shut it down for 30 seconds then fire it up again. Popping the clutch or hitting the start button would not work. Then there was the multiple codes poping up all the time, but only in the morning starts, afternoon was fine. I figured since we are beta testers for HD that its normal. Im an auto tech so it did not usually bother me. Now all that said.

I found the problem, I think. I was doing my 10k maintenance this winter and low and behold the battery positive cable was loose and white corrosion, not the crusty kind either. Also the solenoid connection of the cable was loose too. When I say loose I mean hardly 3 finger tight with a nut driver.
Now the Stealership installed a new battery when I bought it, cause the batt was dead, on June 19 2022, then they did the 1k maintenance when I got it to that point, bike only had 4 miles on it when bought. Since I have cleaned the terminals and cables finished the 10k service so far so good. Its only been a few weeks and weather here in Michigan is in the 30's so riding is not happening a lot.

Just be aware that if your having Codes pop up on a first thing in the morning, with engine stalling, and then go away after driving plus the rest of the day without issues. Check all your battery connections and solenoid connections it just may be that simple.
Ride on my friends and two wheels up.

Greg

If I was in the market today, I would get the '24 with all the extended warranty, tire and wheel, and the maintenance program.
I have that on my '22, and it has paid for itself already by double!

I would get a 24 over a 23 PA, because the resale will be better on the 24 down the road if this fixes the issues. I passed on a 23 replacement HD was going to give me for my 21 PA because I heard about the changes. I've been waiting 3 months but in the end it will be worth it. Also don't forget to get the extended warranty worked into the deal, cheap insurance in the long run.

Indeed I did! Brought her home two days ago (see my profile pic). Interestingly, the local dealer was not willing to go lower than $25K for a '23 (he was going to have to trade) and an outfit up north was willing to let me have the same model for $21,400 (Out the door). I backed out of that deal, contacted my local dealer again last week about a price for a '24 - pretty much the same (different share of gray, but otherwise identical) and they let me have it for $22,800, again OTD. Free market competition does have its advantages!

Now go ride the hell out of it and get us a proper ride report!!!

I’m in the same situation as you are Rocket. I love my early 21 Pan America, but the bike has lived at the dealer getting fixed. I have always treated the dealership service department and the traveling HD wrench nicely and that’s paying off. I should have an alpine green 24 soon. I hope you get yours fixed and back on the road soon.
I picked up an alpine green Saturday, went to break in ride Sunday, shut down after 16 miles and had to get towed. Good luck. I'll be trading in on another brand soon if this isn't fixed. Harley is stuck 50 years behind everyone and can't figure out modern tech.

That suck's, hope it's fixed soon and they do something to compensate you!
I have not had any problems with my 24, hope it works out for you.

I always bring a dozen Dunkin donuts when I go to the dealer. I feel like they take better care of me because they feel "obligated", since I brought them donuts.

Yeah, I have said it many times,
A good relationship with the service department is very important!
