me forward in low position. Heat on my right ankle is HOT. Probably should wear thicker socksšŸ˜€. Finally I have the aluminum panniers and what a pain to have to use a key to open them. Wondering if a better solution is out there? Thanks

Welcome to the forum from SE New Mexico.
The seat thing sucks, there's a mod you can do to help with that, or there's Mean Street Cycles that reworks the seat.

yes that right side is hot.... I find that on pretty much on all bikes the catalytic converter is right there... can't help with the bags I took all that crap off my CVO.. didn't care for them , unless you going on a long trip somewhere, I guess. but I prefer soft luggage..

If you can bear it, ride a few thousand miles before making any drastic changes to the seat. I ride off-road a lot and actually appreciate its forward bias, which keeps me in the correct position. I also have a lot of experience with several mountain bikes over the years, and one thing I've learned is that you need to get used to what you have first. You're not going to hear from someone who has paid a lot of money for an aftermarket seat that it didn't make much difference, because there's a part of them rationalizing their expenditure.

I'm not familiar with the hard cases you're referring to, but if you can find out who manufactured the locks, they may have a push-button alternative. Additionally, I wonder if a locksmith might be helpful in finding a workaround for the lock?

Hey welcome to the Pan America family. I have a 2021 with over 35,000 miles ridden on it.

As stated above give the seat at least 1500 miles of break in. I did change the stock to the Sundowner but I also use a seat cushion (cheap one from Cyclegear).

I find the heat from the right can be bothersome, but only really notice it when I am not using my Daytona boots. I live in the south and ride in traffic during the week, so stop and go in the afternoons can be rough, but even in my HD branded short boots it is still only a slight discomfort. I still have stock exhaust, but have heard that aftermarket units that replace the echo box with a pipe help the heat situation but I don't have direct experience.

As for the lock, I have been following this comment for the last 3 years and just don't get it. I have a tank bag for most anything a need quick access to. Unlocking the boxes when I need to get in them is not that big of a deal to me verse the security of them being locked.

Love your neck of the woods. Past thru and visited the dealership about 5 years ago. Lovely country!

If you have any specific add on questions just shoot me a DM. I have researched most everything out there.

Safe riding.

Welcome, from Southern Oregon,

I took a grinder to those 2 plastic tabs that rest the seat on the frame. It lowers it enough to be comfortable. A hack (literally), but it helps.

Enjoy your new ride!

I had 18,500 on my 21 PAS. Currently have 4500 on my 24 CVO. I have less heat on the 24. I always wear/wore boots on the bikes. Didn't have issues with the heat. I think the 24 runs cooler. The factory seat does slide you toward the tank. I ended up buying a reach seat. Using it in high position on the 24 now.
I find the key thing a matter of getting used to the bike. Had the sport bags on 21. They leaked and the locks quit working. I am grateful for the aluminum panniers.
At 63, I ride a good bit. Got my CVO in May. I have enjoyed both bikes. BTW traded a 17 Ultra limited for the 21. Both bikes are more comfortable for me.
Welcome to the Pan.

Update, 6200 miles on the 24 now.
