24 Pan America electrical problems

Here’s the story…

Dealer talked me into buying a 24 because the electrical problems were supposed to be worked out. Had the bike for 6 days and had the following issues:

bike shut off 3x while leaving house and shifting into 2nd gear. Screen black. Stopped and turned back on…..good to go.

Came to a stop 2x and the bike wouldn’t drop idle below 3000rpm. Turned off, restarted and good to go.

Bike stutters between 3500-4000 rpm’s in 2nd gear

Took to dealer and after 3 weeks they “updated” the software and said I was good to go. Said they couldn’t duplicate the problems….they only road it for 25 miles.

Got bike home and the following day it shut off again after leaving home and shifting into 2nd gear.

Anyone experienced these issues? Pretty disappointed overall. Have always been a Harley guy, almost went with a bmw adv but stayed true and now this crap. Never owned a pan am before; just baggers and never had an issue.

I have a 22 and recently added a 24 CVO PAS and both have had no electrical kremlin issues (I did need to fix the radiator hose and will be replacing fuel pump on the 22 PAS after 13000 miles). There does seem to be much fewer issues with the 24 PAS bikes. I’d say you definitely have electrical issue with your 24 PAS and if possible, I’d take it to another HD dealer since all 24 PAS bikes have up to date SW. Too many dealers will do a SW update to “fix” electrical issues.

Just clocked in 1k miles on my ‘24 and I get something similar when I start her up for the first part of the day. Only thing I’m experiencing is:

Bike shutting off 2-3x when taking off like if it’s dying out, no check engine lights or triangles. Usually when i’m trying to take off more aggressively in the morning. Once it’s warmed up it doesn’t seem to missbehave.

Will check to see if any historic codes are there but I haven’t had any other problems.

There’s too much bullshit on theses bikes too many sensors. Everything has to be in sync or it throws the system out of wack .
I have a 23 PAS that I bought new in 24 for a great price and that was the reason I bought it .I figured I’d take a chance on it , Because I heard of all the problems they were having with this bike . So far I have a little over 1000 miles on it and the weird thing that happened was I stopped to get gas and when I started it the check engine light came on . The bike was running fine and I checked for error codes and nothing came up , so I continue riding I stopped for gas again fueled up started the bike and the check engine light went off and hasn’t been on since . I have know idea why it happened and hope it don’t happen again .
After every ride I plug it into a battery tender and keep fully charged which they recommend and the information on this forum recommends to do .
With that being said I’ve been riding for 52 years and owned every kind of motorcycle / dirtbike at one time or another and I have to say the Pan America has its own unique style and feeling that is hard to explain but if you have one you’ll know what I’m talking about .
I hope it all works out for you and me for that matter . 😁

Fair enough, first time was still on gas from dealer and subsequent has been on good gas? Shell? I'm going to bring it up to them tomorrow but I haven't gone to check to see if there's a code that got logged. What @Tobba611 is basically what happens to me, when I try to take off more aggressively from cold. It has never died on me on the highway, only slow speed and within 10 minutes of starting.
