Is my 2022 Pan America Special a great adventure bike? I’m not sure. My focus of riding is not off-road adventure riding. In 1977 I rode a 1976 Honda 750K model, 5500 miles from Anchorage, Alaska to Gainesville, Florida. About 1500 miles of that trip was down the unpaved Alcan highway. That bike did ok on the Alcan, was ok as a cruiser and was ok around town. For 1977 it was an excellent bike. If there is any unpaved Alcan highway left, I’m sure my PAS would be a much more capable bike than the Honda was. I didn’t buy my PAS for dirt road adventure riding, but I'd gladly go down a dirt road on it. I bought the PAS because it works extremely well (much better than ok) as a standard motorcycle. It is the best standard I have ever ridden. The PAS is a blast around town, it is a comfortable cruiser that can eat up the miles and can go off road. I am a big fan of sport bike power, speed and handling, but I can’t comfortably ride a sport bike (or even a sport touring bike) for long distances. The feet forward cruiser bikes just don't do it for me. I have been looking for a standard bike that doesn’t use a detuned sport bike engine, is comfortable and has excellent handling. I am convinced my PAS has all those qualities. Harley should advertise the PAS as a kick-ass standard with very competent cruiser and adventure riding capabilities. They might sell more of them if they did. Thank you Harley for a great ride!
