Is the Pan Am "stock" battery just a Yuasa YTX14L ? I'm seeing they also have the GYZ16HL which has a higher CCA. Wondering if any have run that instead of going Lithium
I was also looking at the GYZ16HL.. 4 more AH, a little more CCA.. but what killed it for me is that it appears to only have a 6 month warranty.

Can u still use the factory battery tender port with a lithium battery? Or do u need some kind of special charger? Thanks in advance - anti-gravity on the way!!
You need a lithium ion battery tender. They have one on Amazon that does both it's like $45. You shouldn't need a battery tender though with that battery. I've had it for 3 months or so and I haven't hooked it up to a charger once, but I ride every day.

Older thread here so sorry if there's a newer one. It's time for me to get rid of the OEM battery in my bike - it's been nothing but a headache for two years and now it pretty much won't start the bike even after pulling it off a tender. Luckily I have external boost points and a Scosche PowerUp 700 jumper that works great. I see many comments about the Anti Gravity Li-Ion battery, which appears to be pricey if not just to get a reset button on it - that you can't really access anyway. One Li-Ion battery that I see on the Parts Giant website is the BS BSLi-08, however I haven't seen any comments about it here on the forum:

Stated to have 300 CCA, higher than the (200 CCA?) OEM battery, but less than the Anti-Gravity's reported 460 CCA. $163.00 on the Parts Giant website, which says its a direct fit ... am curious if anyone has any experience with these? Thanks -

Harley should recall all the PAS and replace their batteries with normal but more powerful ones... most of the issues on PAS are due to the original battery not being powerful enough.

The bike, when not switching on properly, is firing a bunch of errors and, sometimes, starts in limp mode.

This is my humble opinion.
This is every early adopters opinion.

PS: and a new stator, side case, gas tank and fuel pump

Well I made about 2800 Km's the last ten days and parked my bike outside on cement / parking lots every night without using a tender once. The battery never missed a beat but it is only less than 2 weeks since I installed it. We shall see. The coldest it got was around 12 C +/- for x amount of hours during the night / morning in Northern Vietnam. Once we headed south then back across Laos and into Thailand the temperatures came up to +/- 20's.
Is there a land route to Vietnam, Laos or Thailand from St. Petersburg, Florida? I'm jealous. I rode from Anchorage, Alaska to St. Pete but it's not the same. Happy trails on a PAS.

That looks like a winner to me. I was thinking of replacing my battery with a antigravity battery but do not want to pay what they are asking. This battery fits up my alley for the price range i want to pay and has more CCA then the factory one does.

OEM is 225CCA. Anti-Gravity does not advertise a CCA, only a CA rating.

CCA is max amperage delivered at 0 degrees F.
CA is max amperage delivered at 32 degrees F.

Given that the performance of lithium batteries decrease in sub freezing temperatures, I'd be really, really surprised to see that battery deliver 300CCA.
It reminds me of my car stereo days and seeing cheap 1000 watt amps that delivered no-where near that much power when actually tested.

Has anyone seen this article was suggests that Lithium Batteries are not recommended for Revolution Max engines due to software programming?

i think its strange HD discourages the use of lifepo4 batteries. A lot of guys here seem happy with them. From a tech point of view, the batt is cooled well seen the location on the bike. I would choose a premium brand, as i think the BMS is crucial on having trouble or not.

He is right about the "shut-off feature" most LION batteries have. It kicks them off if they drain below a certain amount. A jump starter spike or press of a button on the battery would re-set that. I bet if you had a bunch of additional electronics running (NAV, Heated gear, camera equipment chargers) that were pulling enough power to drop the battery below its threshold, you could duplicate the problem. But if it did that while it was running, that would be a hell of a drain. But yeah, totally plausible. I think though, he may have had something else going on. Maybe a bad out of the box LION battery OR maybe the bike was experiencing some voltage issue and he thought the LION would fix it. I mean, why did he change out the OEM battery to begin with?

But on the PA, Using the Anti-gravity ATX12HD, my experience has been opposite of his. I've been using mine well over two years, upwards of 30k miles and hundreds of starts with no issues. I think I'm going to keep it.

I have read some articles that suggest jump starting a LION battery can be really bad.. Even my battery manufacturer doesn't recommend it. Now if I was stranded, would I try it? Hell yes! But that alone is enough to make most people look elsewhere.

I bought my first Antigravity battery years ago, mainly because they are based in Gardena CA. I think I would be cautious with brands I've never heard of.

Anytime I "sing the praises" of my AG battery, I add the caveat that I live in southern Tennessee, so even my coldest rides temps are above zero (F). I have heard that LION hates sub-zero, but can't comment on that personally.
