Grab one of those old, large button garage door remotes and stick it in your riding jacket breast pocket. I put mine in the left side and as I approach my garage I slap my left chest and up the garage door goes. My wife says I look like I am hailing Caesar when I enter the garage.

This also works when leaving and closing the door. I can suit up completely in the garage without my usual ritual of opening an closing the garage door 75 times to retrieve everything I forgot.

Zedra can you close the door with that system. I haven't researched it yet.
You can close it with the app on your phone, or you program it to close at a particular distance after you leave. I find that the leaving distance is alway greater than the arrival distance to when it opens, though - about 1km away versus 300' when arriving when it opens (you can change distances but both of mine are set for 300')

I need to chime in about the Tailwind. There are a few other features not mentioned here. There is a mobile app you can control the door with (and additionally setup integrations with Alexa, Google, etc and use your voice assistant with a pin to open/close the door). Beyond that, if you pair your phone with a vehicle, you can set up actions specific for that vehicle in Tailwind (so when the phone is actually connected to the vehicles bluetooth, that's the considered the active vehicle). I have the Pan Am set up, and I have the garage door open when I'm within 60 feet. It does take about 10-15 seconds for it to register my location and activate the door, but it has worked flawlessly for me. If I can get the cursed PTT button working correctly with my headset, then that would be an easier option for using voice control. More to follow there I think, but lastly, and a very exciting feature, the app is android auto/car play friendly. I'm in the process of setting up a Carpuride and have tested this out. Works great. So no need to pull out your phone to check the status (though the voice assistant can also report the status, so hopefully I get that all squared away).

Long story short, no need to wonder if you closed the door, lot's of ways to check, and the app can also send you notifications when the door opens and closes (voice notifications ..."your garage door just opened"), so they have it pretty well covered.

I simply took apart a small handheld garage door opener, soldered some wires to it and attached a waterproof button, shrink-wrapped it, than drilled a hole at the back of the plastic tank shroud. Stuffed everything inside , reinstalled, works like a charm. Did the same thing with my '21, worked perfectly, just had to change the battery once.

That's ideally what I would have done, but we also wanted a smart garage door opener, so this worked out to be the best option. But who knows, maybe I'll send you a remote so you can work your magic for me :ROFLMAO:

happen to have pics for those not as electronically inclined?

Here are a couple of pictures. Ugly inside but works!
Discreet, functional, maybe even a bit elegant... Very nice.

I have a few different bikes I like to ride so I just carry a keychain-sized opener on a piece of paracord. Sometimes in my pocket, sometimes on my wrist sometimes wrapped around the handlebar..

I have few different jackets I use, especially this time of the year when it could be 40F in the morning on the way to work but 75-80F by the afternoon, so this works for my lazy side :) My other bike is old school with keyed ignition in the center so I just have a permanent remote attached to that key...
