I have a 22 PAS, stock except the side cases and a filter. very happy with the bike over 6k miles. No issues beyond a couple screen glitches. I just exited warranty and am looking at two options.
I have a parts list that is almost $6k for stuff I want to do to the bike:
Fresh tires, top case with mounts/backrest, smoked screen, quickshifter, grips, seat, skid, aux lights. Plus adding an aftermarket ESP if I keep it.

or- trade on a 25 CVO. I spoke to my dealer and they are willing to deal. HD is also offering 3yr warranty for $1. Offers
I'm not at final numbers but I think a deal can be had.

Basically, I'm happy with my current bike, but the values are low and putting another $6k on it at this point seems like I should at least consider the newer CVO and 3yrs of warranty.

Income is fine and payments won't be an issue. I don't owe much on the '22. Any dealer deal/trade always costs you, so this isn't some smart investment move. This is my 25th year riding HDs. It's my main hobby and I don't have other crap I spend on.

I do love the new color and the spoke wheels are another upgrade from my PAS. I also will still be rolling dice on the 22 with fuel pump/stator even if I get the warranty. I would hate to have a trip interrupted even if it was covered.

I would press my luck that nothing expensive is going to go wrong for the 2025 riding season and see if production returns to the York plant and purchase American made. After all , that is what Harley is supposed to be all about. If it doesn't return, you can buy the 25 model even cheaper.
Great point. I am philosophically annoyed at the idea of trading my US made bike for the "fixed version" made in Thailand. Bizzaro world.

I will keep buying extended warranties and doing what I do with my 2021 just because we have this mutual understanding that we have built in the past and I'd hate to have to start over with a newer one 😎 but I also may buy a Another one to add to my stable in 2028 when I pay this one off if they are made/assembled back here in the states as they should be, I've spent more or about the same on upgrading the things I wanted too outside the warranty than I paid for it , and got her eating Bmw's and shitting Buells now🤣 so there's no reason I'd want to get rid of mine now 🤷🏻‍♂️ best of luck to you with your decision on your Pan America adventures my friend 😎

Great perspective. Much appreciated. I think keeping the money considerations aside and focusing on enjoying the bike and journey getting it set up is important.

I was in a similar situation and went from a '21 to a '24. Got to sell my old one at a decent price so that helped. Since you are planning on adding a lot of accessories anyway, I wouldn't hesitate on going with the CVO. If I were to do it again the CVO would've made more sense financially, seeing how much stuff I've added to mine, but in the end no regrets, still my favorite bike. Good luck!

Does it have to be a Harley? Lots of other options out there that overshadow the PA and won't immediately lose 1/2 their value.
Plenty of demo time on the bmw gs, no thanks not an option.
Ducati MS V4S I looked at used was 50% msrp and new unsold units available from ‘23 onwards so no advantage there. The only advantage it has is more power and less mpg. Which is a poor tradeoff. Oh yeah and it looks like a vulture.
KTM imploded.
Maybe you are referring to the mighty Goldwing? Now that might happen someday, but not today.

they made it work for me. Also got store money and ordered the VH450 and SE filter. So at the 1k it’s done.

it had a lot of goodies in the case. CVO cover, waterproof duffle bag, tool kit, phone mount.
I’d say it’s got little improvements everywhere in the throttle mapping and overall feel. Maybe just new tires and grips, but I’m super pleased.

quick shifter is new to me, but at $330 I would add it to any PAS.

Keep rolling and seeing the world everyone. 🤘🏽

Love it man! Haven't seen that camo combination in person yet.

Is there anything noteworthy about the CVO toolkit?
It has a good tailored assortment of tools, including a bunch of hex and roadside repair items. I was able to install the phone mount to the mirror mount with provided tools. I hadn’t built a kit yet for my old PAS, so it was helpful.

I'm an EDC/preparedness nerd.. Would love to see a pic of the kit.. Maybe a list of contents?
