I am looking for insight, observations, and experience regarding how the PAS performs in hot conditions (105 degrees Fahrenheit and above).
All comments are welcome.

FYI... On average, Phoenix hits 105 or higher 75 to 85 days annually.

The PAS is a hot bike in the summer temps, the lower right side (cat converter) roasts my lower inside leg. At speed the temp is not that bad but at lower city and/or stop and go it’s a toaster. You can get an auxiliary fan and heat shield but I have only added the heat shield, it helps . Bike is kept in SC.

  • the THERMOSTAT starts opening at 85º C / 185 F opening completely at 100º C / 212 F
  • the FAN turns on at 105º C /221 F and turns off at 95º C / 203 F
  • COOLANT TEMPERATURE icon lights up at 130°C / 266F
  • the protection of the 2.2L of ANTIFREEZE can be used down to -36.7º C / -34.06 F

Manual fan start;
1.- Connect the motorcycle
2.- Turn the throttle to the maximum

Well, I conducted a preliminary heat test yesterday...
Almost 400 miles from 1,140 to 6,910 feet (347 to 2106 meters). High temp was 105° F (40° C).
Rode with about 80 percent of what I'd bring on a camping trip (about 80 lb or 36 kg).
No issues for the bike except the right side of the bike got very hot. Glad I was wearing tall boots.
Heat cramps in both legs aren't the bike's problem.
The Pan America inspires confidence.

I commute 30 miles to Nashville, TN on mine. We might see 100 degrees occasionally but "hot" here is mid 90's.. In stop and go interstate traffic I've seen the bike hit 230 degrees but never much more. Right leg heat does require tall boots to tolerate. BUT in my experience, this is exacerbated by the HD (and a few other manufacturers) full belly pan! If I know I'm going to be 100% on the road and I know it's going to be hot outside, I drop the full belly pan and put the little stock one back on. Then I take off the hand guards and put the sport windshield on. I call it "highway summer mode".

We have wet heat. "The air you can wear". Kinda feels like you opened the clothes dryer after 15 minutes of a 45 minute high heat cycle and stuck your head inside.

Was recently in Panama City, Florida on a solid 90+ degree day. Ran the bike fairly hard and max indicated temperature was 224 degrees. Bike seemed to handle the heat fine.

Of course, right side gets uncomfortably warm, depending on how you position your foot on the peg. I added heat shielding on the catalyst and under the guard on the pipe...useless and waste of $120.00.

If it could talk, my melted right boot ($280/2) might disagree with your comment that $120 was a waste. 😁

I put the HD CAT heat shield and the Wunderlich left side radiator heat deflector on my 21, It sure has made a big difference for me. Lucky me I get to ride all summer long in SW Florida with 10 plus minute traffic lights and bumper to bumper traffic. One thing I watch like a hawk is coolant temp and so far so good.
