Make a yearly change of FOB battery part of your yearly maintenance. Particularly for those of us who live in cold climates, replace it when you bring the bike back out for the season. Or when you do a state inspection or whatever. Even if it doesn't need it, replace once a year. Its cheap insurance.
"Santa" always leaves me packs of various fob batteries in my stocking. So after family time and a few libations, I replaced batteries in Fobs
 
Be thankful its a Harley and not a Honda. Got one in my shop right now with a smashed fob. No hope, no pin, no manual key. Gotta go to the dealer. :mad:
