Excellent info! Thanks for sharing!Just passed 3,000 miles and time to do my 2nd oil change. The 1st was done by the H-D dealer at 1,000. Here we are all setup to start the process.

I have my new FLO oil filter (PCS7B), drain plug O-ring, Motul 7100 20W-50, and not shown Blackstone Labs oil test package.
I did 3 measured drains of the oil sump. The first was with the bike at operating temp on the center stand. That produced 96 oz of old oil, the 2nd drain was placing the bike on the Jiffy stand as the Service Manual recommends. That produced additional 16 oz, the 3rd was removing the oil filter which produced an additional 8 oz for a total drain of 120 oz or 3.75 qts. (That is the amount the dealer had put into the bike at the 1,000 service.)
Time to button everything back up and refill. The FLO filter went on nicely and you can feel and see the dramatic difference between the quality of the FLO filter and the factory filter. Drain plug next and finally the oil. I took to heart the comment made earlier on fill quantity variations right out of the factory sealed bottle. I decided to measure the amount of oil in each of the Motul bottles before filling the oil sump. One bottle was 1 oz heavy from the other 4. Interesting.
I used the recommended process of filling 3 qts of oil (96 oz), running the engine for 10 seconds and then measuring. I continued to fill until I hit the full mark, standing straight up, on the floor, and I added an additional 16 oz for a total 112 oz or 3.5 qts. I verified this with both the factory dipstick and the Pazoma dip stick. Both were right on the appropriate fill mark.
No drips or leaks. Ready for the test ride.
I sent off the oil sample to Blackstone Labs. As soon as the results arrive I'll be happy to share those. It will become my benchmark.
