New member here. Have had my '21 PAS since December of 2021. Put 5k miles on it so far. Love the bike, have been lucky with no electrical issues to speak of.

One thing I've noticed lately, is that when I'm just trying to maintain throttle around 3-3.5k RPMs, it's a bit jerky. Above 4K, it's perfectly smooth. Just wondering if others have similar issue, etc? I've ordered the SE air filter, so I'm hoping that will clear up these issues, but just wanted to hear some feedback from other owners.

I've noticed on mine, never to go below 3200rpm's that's when you have the "Engine Lugging", this engine likes higher revs, it has already a hot cam and 13:1 compression, that's the wayy it is, you may try a bigger front sprocket by a tooth or two, if you prefer better torque at lower speeds.

Yes, I do. If you mess with the exhaust, it may run lean (popping sound on decelleration), to fix that you'll have to get and re-map or flash the ECM wich voids warranty, but solves the problem.

I’m not sure why you assume the warranty is automatically voided. I installed the Screaming Eagle exhaust, dB killer removed, and installed the extreme flow HD air filter. The dealer remapped the ECM and the warranty was not affected.

I didn't know they actually had a remap available for the Pan (they didn't when I did the pipe last year). I have to have my lower triple tree replaced under warranty next week so I'll find out about doing mine. I also have the SE pipe and high flow filter

AFAIK there isn't an HD approved remap for the exhaust/filter. HD is very big about advertising that those parts do not need a remap, which is part of them being emissions approved.

That said, I've got the SE exhaust and filter, the lean 'hunting' at low RPM steady throttle didn't change when I added them.

I have the same problem. It's typical of a lean situation. Slow riding requires it to run better than it does below 4000 RPM. My '22 PAS is at the dealer. A bike in this price range should run idle to redline. The power spike at 4k is understood.

2021 Pan America Special. I have the same problem. Both with the stock exhaust and the SE exhaust. It started around 1k miles. The dealer had it for a while and recorded and sent some data to HD for analysis. They said a temp sensor wasn’t reporting to the ecm. They disconnected and reconnected the sensor and the problem went away—for a little while. Not long after I got it back the problem returned. Sometimes it’s worse than others and I can effect it by switching ride modes. The TFT display engine temp is normal and I’ve just lived with it and watched for an answer. I’m on the road in the Smokys and my fuel pump is giving up so it’s going to Smoky Mountain HD in a couple days to have the pump replaced. I think those guys are pretty sharp so I’m hoping for a fix for the 3k-3.5k rpm burble/stumble while it’s there.

...Please keep us posted..

Smoky Mtn H-D replaced my fuel pump yesterday. I talked to the tech and he said I was way behind on updates and he brought me up to date. He is a Pan Am rider/owner and the service writers think highly of him. Mine has run well since I left the dealership, but I still note a maintenance throttle burble between 3100k and 3300 ish rpm. The tech says his ‘22 has it and they all have it. It may be slightly better after the updates. Tomorrow, we’re putting some miles on and I should know for sure if there’s any change since the updates. It would be interesting to try something like a Power Commander to see if it made a difference.

My dealer confirmed the bike was running as designed by Harley (Very Lean), so I purchased a unit from DynaJet and flashed their "Improved stock" tune. So much better!

This one? Not sure I'm ready to drop 600 bucks for a little stumble that's only apparent when I'm going through a school zone.. I wonder if I can use it on other things?

I got the Power Vision. This is overkill for the stumble. The Power Commander will do the trick, and they are in the $300 range. Do a little homework, read the info from DynaJet. I'm on my 4th tank of gas and the bike is learning well. It runs cooler, most consistent, and fuel milage is up to 45mi/gal
