Question, could you put(would it fit) on the pipe instead of hose? Curious if you put on pipe if that'd also help with some heat dissipating to leg?
This size is not large enough ID for the exhaust header. Short too at 6"
I would suggest checking out Summit Racing and see if they have larger sizes that velcro like this one or Heat Shield brand wrap.

That looks super clean and looks like it should solve the hose issue. Well done!

Did you have to remove the shroud or did you just wrap the hose and slide it over?

Thanks! Yes, I removed the shroud and crash bar for ease of installation. I actually opened the end (velcro) and went on around the hose turn (folded underneath), mostly for appearance.

This is probably the best insurance idea I've seen yet. In other posts, I have detailed the precautions I took to insure not melting another hose.
The adhesive backed foil-based heat shield I used on my lower hose was very effective. However, it looks like shit.
This seems to be a great alternative. I'm jumping on this bandwagon........today!

Just found out that they have a new radiator design that adds some sort of clamp to hold the radiator hose from moving towards the pipe, but they are putting it out as an upgrade not a warranty fix. Dealership brought it up when I took mine in to replace the hose a second time. Whoever they talked to at the factory doesn't want to approve it, so they are continuing to escalate to get replaced. They have the same thought that I do, why fight changing it out when they are looking at having to replace the bike under lemon law if the hose makes contact again.

I purchased this from Summit Racing, and the bronze colored one is cheaper than their black one ($19.99 vs $42.99). The bronze matches the exhaust better lol.

Nice solution! I just ordered one as well. Thanks for sharing, JD.

Just to confirm, the 1.5" fits around the hose? Seems like it would be short.

1.5" is the diameter and yes, around the hose ... it is 6" in length. I removed the side fairing, and folded mine around the bend a lil for appearance.

Here is a pic of the new radiator and clamp they put out to stop the hose from moving and melting. Not sure if it creates more space between the hose and pipe, will see when I pick the bike up this week. Note that Harley is putting this out as an upgrade, not a warranty fix and it took elevating to get them to replace under warranty. They had the dealership takes pics of the bike to prove that it was stock and still didn't want to authorize. This would have been the 3rd hose they put on so didn't sit and argue with the guy. Just told him he could either make the decision to replace under warranty or when it failed again, he could hand me a brand new bike under lemon law.

All that for an added stud for a clamp. You would think their engineers could come up with an easier/cheaper fix.

Many of us have written extensively on this very subject. (myself included). I am not a certified Harley mechanic, nor did I play one on TV. However, if the "upgrade" or solution to the problem is to drain and disassemble the entire cooling system to install a stud, to which a high-temp rubberized clamp is the end-all solution..........
What is the time sheet on this? This has to be at least a 5 hour job? (I'm guessing) put it on, re-install and purge the system of air, check for leaks.....blah, blah, blah.
I'll stick with my shortening of the hose by 3/8" and adding what I now call the "Jesse Sleeve" to the hose and call it a day. Total time if I stop for 2 cold snacks = 1 hour, at best.

..or why they didn't move the radiator locating "socket" forward (or pin aft), there seemed to be enough compliance in the upper radiator fasteners to make this feasible and make the problem go away without this Band-Aid. Like the OP, it's not clear to me what the benefit will be without seeing it installed...or what new issues this could introduce.

It's a brand new radiator and part number with the stud already fixed, they do not install the stud to existing radiator. So yea, assuming a few hours job but I don't have to do it or pay for it. Honestly just want the issue resolved so I don't have to think it about it when off road anymore. I have had a sleeve like Jesse's(think it's a different brand) in the garage for a couple months. Just was waiting to get it in to have the hose replaced before I did. I'm hoping that won't be necessary now, just will have to wait and see if it slips again or not.
