I just got back from a two day trip in the catskills and i kept noticing that on every few starts it was slow to boot up. When you flip the switch to start, it would take a few seconds for the boot up screen and fuel pump to kick on. I started to notice the error light show on the dash for "B116609C", which is a Run Switch Fault. I couldnt clear the code but i would switch off the bike, then it would start normally and the code would disappear.
Clearly, this sounds like what the code says it is, but the problem is its so intermittent. I'm willing to bet any dealer i show this to, wont act until he sees the code. Has anyone dealt with this one?

I have seen what you are talking about. It only did it twice for me. Both times, my fob was in my jacket pocket, inside my top box.. Like it was getting signal, then lost signal during the "POST". This happened last summer. I haven't had it happen again.

This could be the beginning of a "RCHM" issue. The service manual says to open and clean switches and check for debris. Then check the connectors. I think some Wd-40 followed by a blast of compressed air could only do good. But that's just me.
I would also make sure the fob is in range and has a new battery.
I have had one RCHM code once last year. Only happened once and never returned. The fob is very close and every riding season it gets a fresh battery. Plus the battery in the bike is strong (always on a tender, always reading 14.2 while on). Never taken apart the housing but the wd-40/canned air kind of feels like the right thing to do. But its under warranty still so wondering if i shouldnt bother myself.

Well i had electrical contact cleaner, took the back off, sprayed up in there (it was coming out around the button- so i know i got it in there) and the code actually threw again once i put it all back together. Called the dealer and they said to leave it with them for a few days, hopefully the bike isnt down for an extended period.

I had that issue (and some other BCM codes) off and on and Dealer had to replace the RHCM. No issues after the new RHCM was installed. After the new one was installed, the start button protrudes out the top of the engine cutoff much more than the previous one. I think they are using a beefier spring now.
did you have to show the code to get the work done? Thats what im worried about. it sitting for days/weeks at the dealer without the code coming up. but it still starts very slow every morning with or without the code

Well the dealer could tell right away it was the RHCM.. they had it in stock, so just had to wait a few days for his schedule to clear up to do it. Just got the bike back. As others mentioned, the "new" RHCM has the starter button slightly raised. No problems on startup!
