Im taking my PanAm to the dealer to get the grab rail recall fixed next week, and at the same time I want my dealer to update my bike. The dealer says there aren't any updates that they can install but I've read about some other owners doing a firmware / BCM update to fix issues such as USB port and clock issues. Can anyone help me point my dealer in the right direction so I can get some of my electronics issues fixed? Im still dealing with a clock that makes up a random time and bluetooth connectivity issues and a dead USB port.

As a matter of fact there IS an update for BCM wich will allow you to restart easily your engine if it should stall & a few other improvements . If your official dealer connects your bike to their Digital technician computer , it will be automatically be disposed in their "reflash" centre . This update can only be done in accessory mode and with a power supported interface !!

I think that means I don’t need to know what the dealer has to do, and they don’t need to know either. As soon as they plug in then the computer will tell them what updates my bike has not yet received. If I understand that correctly then that’s great news, because my dealer said they don’t know anything about updating it.

Few weeks ago, while flashing the BCM, the BCM couldn't complete the process and became useless.

In a few days the new BCM will be in and I've been told, is different from the original one.

I was looking for more info but I couldn't find any, do you know anything about it? Please share!

Cheers,
Alberto

The passenger/pillion grabrail. All they do is remove the rail and glue-in the brass inserts which secure it to bike. You could do that yourself, FWIW. If you go that far you'd be as well to bin the plastic rail and replace it with a proper metal item. I did.

At the last service my dealer made the complete software update. All systems BCM and the other It took him a half hour and then it was done.
Ever since the bike (software) runs much better..

This with the updates starts being weird. I mean, some of the members here say, they had to downgrade to get some stability back, you say the last upgrade solved issues with the software and it's much better now. Wondering where is the truth!

The truth is somewhere between.
Everyone has to check it for himself out.

Before the update my pas was a diva in the software. Now it is more robust.(y)
Well @Matilda,

If the bikes are all the same (e.g. PAS like mine and yours) the software should act the same. If not, then it's about other hardware components which are not exactly the same.

I give you an example. Today they should replace my BCM. The local HD mechanic told me the BCM has been updated and is going to be different from the one originally mounted on the bike. This might mean software working better or worst, I'll see.

Since I had my bike serviced and they did the software update my bike will not longer stay connected to my Cardo headset. I have tried everything listed on this forum as ideas with no luck. So for now I will just run my headset through my phone until the next update I guess.
