I was blown away when I realized that the front fairing was only secured by rubber grommet bushings. I asked myself what is stopping people from just ripping theses things off. Short answer is nothing. I was not the first person to ask this obviously. There are kits that you can buy that add brackets to better secure the fairing, but I am frugal so I looked at a cheaper way. This is not a 100% theft prevention by any means but it is a deterent and keep the fairing from easily popping right off.
I was able to drill a 1/8 in hole into the lower left post of the fairing that goes into the rubber bushing, and then fit the fairing back on as normal and used a tapping screw and medium sized washer screwing it into the hole I just made in the post from the back side of the grommet. This prevents the fairing from being pulled out of the grommet and grommet flange due to the washer on the back side.
This might be a red neck fix but it works and it can't be seen unless you are trying hard to find it.
Let me know what you think.
