I was getting on the freeway and heard a clink and felt like I ran something over. Didn't notice until I was leaving work that the exhaust header heat shield was gone.

There's a bracket welded to the header pipe and the tab that holds one of the heat shield screws broke off at the weld. Bye bye heat shield.

I talked to a service tech I know, who also has a PAS, and he says this has happened to him three times. It's a warranty issue and they have to replace the entire header.

They shoulda just used pipe clamps 😆

Mine broke one of those retaining points but stayed on the bike. They were happy to replace the header/converter for me. Must have cost them a pretty penny.
Yeah, I'm just waiting on the parts to be delivered, but they're replacing the header/heat shield under warranty. In the mean time I'm burning my pants 😆.

I've pulled my shield, heat taped my pipe and reinstalled heat shield. For $20,000 + dollars, you would think they could get this right. No problems, so far, with mine. Glad to hear they are stepping up and covering under warranty.

I had this happen to me as well. It is Stainless Steel 18 gauge.. I disconnected my negative battery cable and Tig welded it, hooked the ground up right next to the bracket, it was nice and easy, no problems...
