Anyone try running their bike on 87 octane? I tried it and the bike cut off when cold. Once it warmed up it ran fine. I have never had this same problem with 92 octane. Any thought or comments????

ok I was just looking to see what fuel this bike takes. And stumbled across this thread. Thanks for the info. So in my area 85 is our lowest grade which is 3.24. So Costco it is 3.51 Premium
But what about ethanol in the fuel? Do you guys run ethanol free? Or does it not matter?

According to the manual and backed up by my dealers service guys, doesn’t matter as far as ethanol goes. I live in Ca and you can’t find it without and I am jealous as hell of your 3.51 for premium. Here where I live in Central Ca it’s averaging around $5 and it’s even even higher in the San Fran area.

85 thats some watered down shite. Run at least 89. Ideally especially in the heat 91 plus for optimum (timing advance) performance. You didn't buy a low compression economy commuter scooter. Its a high compression high performance to its size engine designed to take advantage of the higher detonation resistance of high octane fuel.

This engine has the components designed to withstand the corrosiveness of the added corn alcohol ie ethanol fuel. Naturally its ideal and you get more bang from your buck if you have access to ethanol free pure gas.
