Love my Pan America to bits but there is one challenge I have had to overcome time and again and that is when the key to the fuel cap all of a sudden decides not to fit. To make sure I don't get stuck I bring a few torx bits so I can unscrew the whole fuel cap and fill up that way. Looks like the lock will ease up the more I use it but even so - I am a bit surprised at the poor fit. Anyhow it is good that Harley provided a "plan B" for us to fill up.
Guess my little issue is a one off because I have not found any comments in this forum.
Just wanted to share.
Take care guys and ride free

I'm no pro but thinking vast majority of PAs don't have a fuel key! That's probably why no other posts about it.
Mine does not have a key, I pull up, get tank bag outta way and lift up on tank lid/cap and get me some gas.
Hope it "loosens" up for ya but sounds like you got it under control.😁

So it is probably a Swedish thing - the lock came as standard here.

Key just needs a firm push all the way home and will free up with use, I put a tiny drible of 3-In-One oil into mine and that helps. Price of petrol these days means it needs keeping under lock and key even more!
