New warranty pipe installed yesterday (heat shield mount had cracked/broken on original). Only took em a week to get it!
Question: This is the "upgraded" pipe, looks like it has an additional O2 sensor hole (plugged in 1st photo). Is that what it is?

WIsh I had taken a photo when the pipe was still silver lol.

Its hard to tell from the pic, but........
Is it possible that pipe may have been slated for another model with the RA1250 motor? If so, it would make sense that a different model may require a different O2 sensor location.
Let's just say that were true, does that mean that they simply do not have enough stock of the PA pipes and simply authorized the use of a pipe for the same motor but slightly different part number?
Is it possible, this modification may lead to an easy fix should the O2 sensor up front on the throttle side has caused grief with melting coolant hoses? If they were trying to avoid a full-on recall of the hose melt issue, you could re-locate the sensor and provide a harness extension for much lower cost.
Could that new pipe be slated for a future project and they are correcting their woes up front? Maybe a 975cc version for Europe or Asia?
Hell, I don't know, I'm just spit-balling.

My shield broke off last Fall. Dealer says my 21 warranty expired so must shell out $250 for new pipe plus 1.5 hours service. Stinks paying for A design flaw.
I would just get it a tab welded back on for the shield bolts? Or grind the broken areas off and wrap it....

that makes sense. Wrapped the header on my cruiser and it made a noticeable difference heatwise.
but I’ll ask around work for a welder too I know there’s a handful.
Ive burned through 2 pairs of jeans and my foul weather over pants so far lol. Need to deal with it sooner than later.
