Hello folks, I'm a longtime motorcycle enthusiast, having owned a dozen or so motorcycles.

On Saturday, I took delivery of my PAS, and am a bit confused at the moment.

I'm trying to figure out how to change ride modes and adjust the active suspension, but cannot seem to figure out what is wrong.

The "Mode" button does nothing, and there is no mode indicator on the dashboard — and going into Settings -> Ride Modes shows that there are none available. See attached images.

Thanks for any pointers / help!

Hmmm. Turn it off. Let it cycle off. Then turn it back on. I just changed the appearance using the widget interface instead of simple and it makes no difference, you should see the ride mode icons dead center top. IF it doesn't show up, I'd start the bike then shut it all off and try again. IF that doesn't work, I'd start the bike and ride it 100 yards then shut it off and try again. My gut says it's stuck in a cycle of some sorts. If it still doesn't appear...prolly gotta call the dealer.

You could try pulling the main fuse to reset everything but unless you’re really far from your dealer I’d just let them sort out on a new bike. Something on the computer didn’t load right or some sort of loose connector maybe.

Any chance this is still in transport mode from delivery to the dealership? Seems odd they would not have checked firmware / software versions prior to letting it out the door.
The manual states that changing the OFF/RUN switch to RUN will disable transport mode. I've ridden the bike already, so looks like that cannot be it.

Hmmm, any error codes available? Even when the modes are disabled there is a warning but your dash straight up just has nothing. I would definitely check with dealer but keep us posted also list error codes here if you get any.

Hey all — I've spoken with the dealer and have been given an update.

Apparently they didn't do any of the normal pre-delivery checks on the bike prior to me taking delivery, aside from adjusting the handlebars. The service tech mentioned that my issue is likely due to modules needing to be updated so they're all at the proper versions.

I'm taking it in to them tomorrow so they can go over the bike, and hopefully it will be a simple update.

Also, it makes it 100% obvious that their fees to setup and ensure proper functioning of the bike are total BS, they're just lining their pockets with made-up fees… and making HD look sloppy.

This pretty much confirms my suspicions. I do know that not every dealer has a REV MAX certified tech. The same thing happened when the V-rod first came out. It takes time with CE credits to insure techs are up to speed.
However, letting any bike go out for delivery without a tech going over it and signing off on it is rather reckless. Glad to hear they admitted to the error and are willing to make it right.

FYI, Harley already pays the dealer for a final assembly (putting the windscreen and mirrors on) standard pre-delivery check. Any setup fees the dealer passes on to the customer is just extra profit for the dealer.

If true, means that the factory assembles the bike with incompatible module software revisions and relies on the dealers to update them so they play well together...OR...another quality escape from the factory. Either way..plus including your dealership not doing any pre-delivery work...waaaaaaay too reliant on the "always time to fix it later" rabbit hole.

Too bad there isn't a middle finger emoji, because I would have used it on this one. Your dealership should give you a major instore credit or something for that fk up.
Hope they get you taken care of

That would be the last time I ever stepped foot in that dealership, wouldn't trust anything they do. Would take my complaints straight to HD headquarters and ask them what they are going to do to correct and compensate.

Check out this you tube link:

I liked Laidlaw videos when I first got mine - been awhile since I went thru it - I am sure there are other such web videos too.

I am loving my PanAm, enjoy yours!!

Can't wait to hear/see the updated post @emc ... I can forgive dealer incompetence once provided they accept responsibility and own their fuck up. Let's hope that's what we hear when you come back. IN the meantime, as I went to my bike to select modes and etc. I realized I was NOT in rain mode last time I was in some hella weather. On the upside, the bike handled like a champ riding through puddles and in the rain staying on street mode. On the other hand, I did make some changes inside my garage to remind me about the modes. I hope this works.

HAHAHAHA. Today I brought out the RG. Sunny skies and all the puddles dried up. That's my new rules. If there is even the slightest puddle remaining, its PAS! But man that Stage II sound and rumble and power on the RG today felt GREAT!
