Please don't shoot the engine until all of the results are in. 🙏 There are many, many components that are needed to operate correctly for the engine to remain within operating temps, especially at an idle state. For example, my Jaguar AJV8 engine is one of the most reliable, bullet proof, race proven engines out there, but it will overheat if something as simple as a thermostat decides to stick half open at some point in the process.

I sincerely hope it is not the engine that overheated, but something outside of the power plant. I know the result is just as frustrating, but does keep confidence in the engine. :)

It might be a case of the mysterious leak spot or commonly referred to as MLS.
It occurs when you look under a bike or car and assume it came from the vehicle directly over the liquid. When in fact the liquid was there all along, but you just noticed it.

It is good to be cautious, but it sounds like you have checked all of the vital areas.

Now you have to be careful you don't start hearing mysterious sounds or HMS. This comes from a heightened sense of potential problems that manifest themselves into sounds we definitely hear but can't identify. This usually follows a strong case of MLS.
