I’m close to making a decision on the bike. My major concern is with the electronic stuff I was not born with a cell phone in my hand. It seems like if you get a good one your set but if you have issues they are hard to resolve. I have never had issues with any of the Harley’s I have owned. I believe they make a quality product and I am willing to pay for it. So how can I tell if I am buying a bike that is going to work? Maybe I should wait till next year I really don’t want to

Welcome to the fourm
Its a jump from cruisers to adventure bikes, and a "New Bike" from Harley, I get that.
I have a 2013 Dyna that has never been an issue, and had a 2017 RGS that was riddled with gremlins.
The technical issues on the PAS are really not that bad, in most cases. But there's a ton of info and support here.
So, Where you from?

I am in central New York I have a 15 RGS with 55k miles no issues. Have grandchildren now that are starting on off road bikes and I want to be a part of that. I want a bike I can follow along through the fields but then go down the road for a hundred miles. And right now it’s between the PAS or a super tenere

Who is your closest dealer? As long as they're competent with the PA, I think it's getting to be a reliable bike. I'd say 99% of the 'horror stories' come from bad dealer set ups, incompetent service techs (initially), bad batches of parts in 21 models, random software glitches and the few known design flaws etc. With all we've learned in the last two years, I think most of the kinks have been ironed out or are getting close.

I too am generation no handy, i can sort the ecu bcm codes out that is no problem BUT the problems do occur adaptive ride height throws a wobbler every other day then overheating melting radiator tubes the list goes on if you want a trouble free bike go for the Yamaha ,otherwise weight is also a problem off road, especially when you go down and that will happen.

I agree with most of the posts. My '22 PAS has been a great bike and any of the issues I've had have been minor.
If your dealer isn't trained on the PA then you could be in for some headaches though. However I have a '17 Ultra Limited w/stage 4 and a Soundz Audio system, and I have been putting more miles on my PAS than my Ultra. I really enjoy the PAS. No buyers remorse

I agree with Burnin, I too have a 2022 and in my first summer i put on almost 6k on it. Is there issues? Yeah. Does it stop me? HELL NO!! I work for an American Icon company that is over 100 years old and wanted an American bike. This bike is it. I love it. Mine had one major issue in the first 700 miles. The IMU went and was replaced. Its been a dream since. Now the bikes dont like going below 10v when cranking when it does it throws codes like a nut ball squirrel. I erased them and move on. Maybe we were lucky on our 22's but so far so good.
My 2 cents

I searched for more than a year for a 2015 RG. From 1 owner to many, from no miles to many. I rode, tested and pursued because I wanted that model year. However, once I found a dealer that spoke my language (there are 4 within close distance to me) it became clear that a new 2021 RG was my best move. I love it. AND while I don't have grandkids running around, I do love the PAS. So I kept the RG and I got the PAS. I love it. Love them both....but I've gone through 3 clutches (maybe 4 as of 2 days ago) on the RG practicing like I'm in a rodeo. BUT THE PAS GIVES NONE OF THOSE ISSUES. It's LIGHTER. Stronger. More reactive. AND AND AND the Electronics blow my RG away. THere is no "boom" entertainment system on the PAS but the settings (rain anyone)... and other electronics on the PAS make it a no brainer. From the GS to the Multistrada nothing made me comfortable like the PAS. I LOVE IT and can't say enough good things about it. I don't get rain much BUT DANG I AM CHASING IT NOW BECAUSE I CAN. (I keep Lana Turner [my Road Glide] clean and dry)

Just to add to this issue the ONLY thing two things i dont like on my bike is the kick stand and the seat. Seat is great for about 45mins then my butt starts complaining.
When you use the kick stand make darn sure its locked in place and holding. Ive dropped the bike 2x because i did not check. It leans like a drunkard too. So when i can i use the service stand.

The thing I dislike about the kick stand is it's length. I sometimes have to lean the bike to the right past upright to get the kick stand to deploy. I was thinking about it the other day that maybe it will deploy better when the engine is off. I believe the ARH might be lowering too much to put the kick stand down when the engine is running.
