Bought the small toolbox accessary. Thought "Hey a little extra storage space wouldn't hurt". If you have the passenger hand rails the box won't open all the way.

All the ebay distribbers push out this chinese made box. I bought one too. It'll work provided (as you discovered) you remove the plastic rails. I had HD install the top case mount which "uses" the plastic side rails so I'm in the boat with you. ACTUALLY, I'm in a pay it forward mode thanks to other participants in this forum (I got a great deal on the HD soft side bags) so perhaps I should to that here with my toolbox.
