I have read several text descriptions and watched web-based videos offered by individuals on the updating of the Infotainment software, some were good. The best I found is directly at the H-D Service Information Portal (H-D Service Information Portal)
There are many ways to reach the Harley-Davidson’s service portal. One of the easiest is to type Harely-Davidson.com into the url address window of your internet browser. You should arrive at the Harley-Davidson website home page. If you scroll down to the lower part of the home page you will see a listing for “Software Updates”. Select this item.
You should arrive at the Table of Content which has instructions for many different items and procedures.
The video titled Video 6. Instrument Module Software Update Guide under Revolution Max is an excellent tutorial. Even though dated 2021 it is still current. The links for the software upgrade and Release Notes are in the table just below the video.
One recommendation that was not in the H-D video that I found useful was to use the accessory mode rather than powering up the bike using the “on" position (not start). You do this by holding down the “trip select button” which is directly under the heated grip button, until the H-D logo appears on the Infotainment screen. I found this on Mike’s Motorbike Channel.
Another recommendation that I have found useful over the years is to use a new (new or completely reformatted), “clean drive” because previously stored software programs, uninstall programs, quick formats and delete processes, leave behind pieces of software on the flash drive that confuse updating procedures. The flash drive needs to be formatted as a FAT32 which is the default for a 32GB memory stick. FAT32 is older, but H-D probably uses this because it offers nearly universal compatibility with devices. Be careful as other sized flash drives cannot be formatted as a FAT32. Since my ToughBook (Windows OS) only has USB-A ports I purchased a SanDisk 32GB Ultra Dual Drive because it has both a USB-A and USB-C port on a swivel direct connection. I can use the USB-A to download the software revision on to the flash drive and then use the USB-C connection to interface with the Infotainment unit on the Pan America. H-D cautions customers not to use a converter cable or port extender because these devices are sometimes not direct connections.

I hope this is useful.
