I thought my tinitus was acting up tonight. But when I followed the noise it lead to my PAS’ dashboard.
The bike is sitting there on the charger and letting out a very low but high pitched sound that is changing tones in a repetitive pattern. I recorded it with my field recorder but unfortunately there’s no option in the forum to attach.mp3 files. Not that I can find anyway.

has anyone else heard this weird noise?

when i unplug the charger it stops.
WTF?

If I could post my recording you could hear it. I couldn’t record a video of it with my phone because the mic in it isn’t sensitive enough. I had to use a Zoom field recorder that has a gain control which I had to crank up to max. The sound is faint. You can only hear strongly by putting your head close to the dashboard.

The sound may be subharmonics from the PWM of the switching supply in the charger but I don’t have any other charger.
even still it begs the question of why there’s power to the dashboard when the bike is off and what component inside the dash unit is resonating and radiating the noise?
When I was an electronics tech I would solve problems like this by taking a small scrap of metal tubing and placing it in contact with various component. Once the metal starting ringing you knew which component was causing the noise. It’s usually an inductor/choke which can be susceptible to mechanical vibration depending on different factors.
Bobbin wound chokes are usual suspects and replacing them toroidal types fixes the problem.

But I’m not about to open up the dashboard to poke around inside.

I have a hunch that if you wired a heavy duty switch inline with the battery cable and shut that switch off when not using the bike it would fix all of the bikes electrical gremlins.
The last update and battery swap fixed all of my "gremlins" BUT I did contemplate adding a switch before I learned about transport mode. I used to put it in transport mode every time I parked it in the garage. It disables the security system. If you've ever walked over to the bike and moved it or switched it to the center stand, even with the fob on you, you'll hear it click under the seat. I suppose if I didn't have the fob, the lights would start cycling. But put it in transport and all that stops.

You're an electronics guy, you probably have a Fluke meter or a voltage data logger laying around. Hook it up and see what the draw is. On the charger, off the charger. In t-sport.. ETC.

All the test equipment I have anymore is a cheap pocket probe.
All I work on anymore is analog audio equipment. If I need an oscilloscope I record the signal with my field recorder and analyze the audio file in my computer.

So the question still stands. Is anyone else hearing this noise from their bike?

In other news, since the temperatures are near 60 lately my bike is back to starting on the first try and no codes or ARH fails.
