So I have had a lot of "down time" on the Pan Am....still riding, healthy and all.
Just got some time to do "extra caricular" activities

So I built a grandma's sleeper sound system in my late wife's car......
Yeah, I been bored

🤔 if I'm not working on my bikes or vehicles I'm working on someone else's bike or vehicles 😒

Between Club and Work and Friends and enemies I usually stay pretty busy from the time my feet hit the floor until the time I put them back under the sheets 🤦🏻‍♂️

Being a skilled 35+ year mechanic, welder, and jack of all trades keeps me going as much as my body and mind will allow 😕

If I just don't answer my phone I can get yard work and house work done 🤷🏻‍♂️

Then any "Down Time" I get I'm still a mental mess from trying un-wind from all the stuff that comes along with taking care of

Club
Work
Home
Friends
Enemies

Stuff on A daily basis and I get on here or YouTube and try to socialize with y'all for a bit 🤔

But if I just say FTW KMA I like to paint 🎨 and garden some , growing enough to live off grid if I had to and I'm also interested in fishing and camping but haven't done that in a relaxing environment in over 10 years I'd say 🤔

Living in a small poorer town and being clean and sober for the last 15 years has been challenging and surreal for the most part lol

As my ID might suggest I play with Jaguar motor cars. Not the really old ones, but those between 1985 and 2008. My other favorite activity is riding and maintaining my Pan America. OK, let's include modifying my Pan America with the latest addition that is suppose to improve the ride.

Fortunately, my wife is in full support of my activities because she is passionate with her dedication to the garden and creating all kinds of things with Bernina machines. Here is an example of what she surprised me with on a shirt.

Don't worry. Only on my shirt. No selling going on.

I work on a cruise ship with a schedule of 12 weeks on board/12 weeks at home. You’d think that would mean I get to have a vacation for half the year, but somehow it does not work out that way. Lots of chores pile up in 12 weeks. But it’s still pretty awesome.

On down time?..... Skydive! Talk about clearing your head. Jumping from 14K feet, and free falling for about a minute, has a way of clearing my head. I did static line jumping in the Army, but free falling and opening the chute yourself is a lot more enjoyable, and not to mention, jumping for recreation and not as a job, is more enjoyable, as well.

I'm taking my son skydiving this year!
Probably tandem, but we have wanted to do it for years!!
Rocket, you guys are going to have Blast! Tandem Instructors are highly talented and trained individuals. Just tell them not to "spin" you, people who get spun, come down nauseated and dizzy. I sometime inadvertently make myself dizzy when I spin a little too quickly, to lose altitude when under canopy, to hit my landing spot.

Rocket, also since you live in Artesia, NM, the closet drop zone is in Belen. El Paso, used to have a small drop zone in Santa Teresa, NM. Now, someone else may have started a new drop zone there, from what I've been told.

Skydiving is so cool, only did it once a long time ago and it was static line, still it was a blast.
My down time is much more boring, working on my second master's degree (social work, my other was in the humanities/English), so I have a constant supply of homework. I try to get it all handled during the week after work so I can ride all weekend.

If i get any down time, i drink beer.
And jack. Ive Been collecting jack for years.
Just bought an old australian only release, bottle from years ago. View attachment 7666

Buffalo Trace Distillery in Franklin County has a small visitor area where you can sample and purchase ODD and 1 of brews and I believe it's one of the oldest in Ky, should check it out if you have time ;)

If I'm not riding my Pan Amercia, then I'm usually either:

  • working the day job (IT consulting)
  • filming or editing a YouTube video
  • riding my Kawasaki Z650 at a track day
  • teaching other riders, I teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes for Total Control Training
