2022, PAS with 12,900 miles, bought new. I have been riding for more than 50 years, and this is the absolute best standard bike I have ever ridden. I don’t use it as an adventure bike, but my guess is it would be an outstanding adventure bike based on its lightness, horsepower and suspension. This bike will not make you an adventure rider, only experience and training can do that. This bike has had its teething problems. What is outstanding is my dealers (Burt’s Barracuda. St. Pete., FL) and the manufactures response to those teething problems. Under warranty they have replaced the fuel pump and stator, in a no hassle and timely manner. My stalling, fuel pump noises and voltage problems went away. Those teething problems have not diminished the overall level of joy I’ve gotten from riding this machine. I could have bought a bland (by PAS standards) and trouble-free bike, but the compromised riding experience would not have been equal to the PAS. Have fun, but stay safe.

"Compromised riding experience" is not how I would describe the competition. The Pan Am has the worst resale value and worst sales (from 2022 to current) of any big ADV bike in recent times. This market has spoken and has identified the Pan Am as the inferior bike of it's class. 12,900 miles is less than 2 weeks riding for some IBA riders and you've already suffered multiple issues in that time frame. I'll happily take "bland" if it means I get to make it home.

Here we go again with another useless unproductive response brought to us all by Panamfan123. Thanks so much for your dedication to providing us with your bizarre dribble and expert market insights.
Guess you can share your opinions with this IBA rider although she probably won’t care either seeing how she’s done multiple Coast to Coast IBA’s on her Pan Am.

If you watch her videos, you'll find that her bike stranded her in alaska due to a failed fuel pump and also stranded her on her Quiktrip tour due to a failed stator. There's a reason why the vast majority of Iron Butt Rally entries are BMW GSAs and Yamaha FJRs.

I agree with OP I've had more bikes than most have ever seen up close in person and dreamed of having from mini bikes with Briggs and straton 3hp motors in the early 70's to v8 chevy motors and in February of 2024 I got this 2021 PAS and yes I had dirt bikes of every make and cruisers of every make and a few (8) sport bikes and around 40 or so Harley-Davidson bikes from knuckles to this revmax and in my honest opinion there are bikes that are made to do certain specific things and bike that try to do multiple things and I road 4 different sport touring adventure bikes before deciding on the PAS I like the uncertainty of things and I also like pulling away from cocky nah-sayers when they think they got life figured out and hopefully it has helped a few make life changing decisions 😀 but none of the bikes I've had or test rode can make (ME) smile like this top heavy kinda ugly Pan America Special has , if it breaks fix it if you can't take it to someone who can, but just get what makes you feel good and quit ditching others decisions 🤣 and to the haters if ya don't like my opinion well then BYE FELICIA AND TAKE KAREN WITH YOU 🤪

You totally missed the point of my post.

In what manner did I misconstrue your post? I don't find your ownership account to be particularly compelling towards the Pan Am's reputation. I'm glad you enjoy it, but I'm not sure how you can espouse the Pan Am's superiority without being intimately familiar with all the competitor's bikes.

We all get it. You like your GS (Just like the many many 1000's of other GS riders). Your posts on this forum are not helpful, and not constructive. You've gone from having some interesting insights to just repetitive, condescending, and negative trolls.

Yeah of course you’re right I never watched her video. Thanks because I didn’t know fuel pumps were causing problems in the Pan Am. Oh maybe I just have a bad memory because now I’m thinking I’ve seen 15-20+ other posts of yours that may have mentioned that. And thanks for letting me know that all the Harley riders I’ve seen over the years with IBA patches and license plate frames are all posers. I can’t wait to call them out next time I run across one, what nerve!!!

Never said they were posers directly or indirectly; I never resort to name calling or playing "internet tough guy". I simply said that the majority of IBR (not IBA) entries are GSAs and Yamaha FJRs. The few HD entries are typically M8 touring bikes. If you want an interesting read, look up IBA rider Chris Hopper. He rode 100k miles in 100 days on his HD.

I'll say to you what I said to fellow forum member Rocket yesterday.- "Rocket, I can tell you with 100% certainty that a select few HD DevOps lurk on this forum, HDforums.com, and several of the Facebook forums to gauge product perception. Back in 2022, I was very vocal (and respectful) regarding a "vin error" issue that I had after a BCM update. An HD dev ended up reaching out and I ultimately let them use my bike as a testbed for what eventually became infotainment software update LM75.1355.220221031. Long story short, "complaining", or as you might call it, "trolling", can yield a meaningful resolution. I still talk with that software engineer who has now moved onto other opportunities in the automotive space. Positive ride reports are nice to read, but don't contribute anything to model improvement or refinement."

I’ve ridden enough to know EVERY brand has its upsides and downsides, including the 2 models you mentioned. You seem to be blinded by that fact. You either don’t have enough experience or you have another agenda.

Not blinded at all. I've owned many brands over the years and without fail, every one of them had their flaws. The Pan Am just happens to have more of them, many of which took far too long to be corrected (or never were). Your post clearly stated how you find the Pan Am to be a superior bike to its rivals and I am respectfully disagreeing with you. If you take bias and brand loyalty out of the equation, what makes the Pan Am a better ADV machine than it's rivals? I ask this not facetiously.

Same here. Since 1986 I've had 27 new bikes of all makes and models and can easily say that my 23 Pan Am is the best bike of them all. The fuel pump, just like with the Ferrari and Boating crowd, has an issue with aluminum fuel tanks and 10% Ethanol. The chemical reaction creates a black soot that clogs the filter. Spend some time on Ferrari's forums and you'll read about the problems they have.

Ferrari, as well as boaters who have aluminum fuel tanks on their boats, run Sta-Bil 360 Protection Ethanol stabilizer in their fuel tanks.

That solves the problem.

Don't trade your Pan Am in for a dorky goofy GS with cylinders smacking your shins. What a goofy bike, and the people who ride them dress like dorks. They are a different breed of people. They all dress in Aerostitch outfits and wear healmets with visors and beaks and have aluminum hard bags mounted like they were taking a trip around the world, and ride everywhere in a stand-up position when all they ever do is go to Starbucks for coffee.

Dorks

GS riders can be quite a snobby and dorky crowd indeed. GS riders also benefit from a vastly superior bike in terms of reliability, engineering, refinement, and support (dealer and aftermarket). Without the GS, the Pan Am wouldn't exist nor would the entire ADV segment. I own both bikes, but sales volumes don't lie. Pan Am sales are on death's door while GS sales increase year after year.
